Corona del Mar Recreation & EntertainmentSherman Library and GardensThere are a few local attractions in Corona del Mar, such as the Sherman Library and Gardens. Opened in 1958, it has developed to the size of an entire city block. Found within is a large botanical selection including rare cacti. The library itself is home to more than 15,000 volumes and associated literature, which tell the history of Corona del Mar and the entire Pacific Southwest. The garden grounds contain fountains and sculptures along with a conservatory and a Koi pond. This area of Corona del Mar is a highlight for scuba divers in the water and mountain bikers on land.Corona del Mar RestaurantsFor those who enjoy dining out, the Five Crowns Restaurant is considered a particular local highlight. It was first opened in 1965 and is an exact copy of Ye Olde Bell, which is an Inn that can be found in England, in the village of Hurley-on-Thames. Corona del Mar Festivals & EventsThere are many events and festivals organized yearly in Corona del Mar, including the immensely popular Annual Sandcastle Contest. The event has been taking place for over 40 years and each year the sandcastles constructed by contestants have become more and more elaborate. This is an excellent event for the whole family, the culmination of which is the judging and prize giving.
Music lovers will no doubt enjoy the Corona del Mar Baroque Music Festival which has been run annually since 1981. The festival features performances from both local talent and better known artists.The Annual Corona del Mar Scenic 5K race takes place in June and has been in existence for over 25 years. It is a traditional event that draws thousands of spectators and participants to watch the runners and/or walkers as they make their way along the enchanting streets of Corona del Mar.
